The Wine

The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot, 3% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc. 100% barrel fermented and barrel aged for 22 months on 80% new French Oak. The alcohol content is 14.4%

Mr. Hoefliger’s Tasting Notes:

Color:  Deep dark ruby with mashed strawberries and Ferrari red on the rim

On the nose:  Strong fruit like Cassis, Cranberries, strawberries and cherries with touches of clay, rosemary, paprika lingering on chocolate, lavender and tobacco

On the palate:  Soft entrance evolving on present silky tannins with some ripe red fruit like red currant, red cherries and touches of coriander and juniper berries.

The Wine

The 2014 Audace, 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc.   CA Clone 7. 100% barrel fermented and barrel aged for 22 months on 80% new French Oak.  The alcohol content is 15.1%

Mr. Hoefliger’s Tasting Notes

Color: Deep dark black ink with touches of Ferrari red and magenta

On the Nose: Beautiful cedar, pencil shavings, graphite with touches of blueberry pie, black cherries, black pepper, geranium, cassis, licorice, dark chocolate, black olive and slate.

On the Palate: Beautiful silky entrance evolving on acidic and fine framed tannins with touches of violet, blackberry preserve and lilac.

 

Jeb Dunnuck, 93 Points:  "The flagship cuvee is the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Audace, which normally includes small amounts of Merlot and Cabernet Franc raised in 80% new French oak. The 2014 has a gorgeous bouquet of blueberries, blackcurrants, cedarwood, spice and dried flowers. This carries to a very pretty, polished, elegant 2014 that has the vintages purity, suppleness, and polish front and center. Drink it anytime over the coming 20+ years."

The 2015 V. Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon consists of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon,  2% Merlot. Left 21 days on the skins. 100% barrel fermented ~ Aged for 20 months in 75% new French Oak.  The alcohol content is 14.1%

Mr. Hoefliger’s Tasting Notes:

Color: Shiny and brilliant dark cherry with touches of mahogany and amber on the rim.

On the Nose: Truffle salt, rosemary, tarragon, dark chocolate, soap, red cherry, black currant and violet.

On the Palate: Silky but structured entrance evolving on a fresh mid-palate with touches of lilac, apple, red currant, Mirabelle plum, lingering tannins and peaches.

Limited Production of Less Than 100 Cases Produced 

James Suckling, 92 Points: "A juicy and ripe cabernet with blackcurrants and soft, slightly chewy tannins, which give this medium- to full-bodied wine form and freshness. Drink or hold."

Jeb Dunnuck, 91 Points: "Cut from the same cloth as the 2014, yet with its foot pushed firmly on the gas pedal, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Single Vineyard is an uber ripe, decadent 2015 that gives up lots of plum, graphite, saddle leather, lavender and cedar aromas and flavors. Despite it’s over the top style on the nose, it remains nicely balanced and enjoyable on the palate, with loads of fruit, a big, plump, rounded texture, and fine tannin. It has a lot of baby fat, as well as tannin, on the finish, and should keep for 15 years or more."
