Wild Horse Valley

The Wild Horse Valley received its designation as an AVA in 1988 and is a sub-appellation of the Napa Valley AVA. The AVA Sits on 3,300 acres, in the southeastern corner of the Napa Valley. The Valley consists of volcanic well draining soils and has two distinct climate zones. To the west, the area is cooled by breezes off the San Pablo Bay, although the elevation keeps the area above the fogline. The eastern half, being protected by the surrounding terrain, is much warmer. The cool climates of the region make it ideal for growing cold climate vines like Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
